Thinking back to Bali

 

I woke up giggling lf this morning. Thinking about that time in Bali when I finally got up the courage to rent a scooter (since that’s the main mode of transportation there). 

I walked a mile in the scolding hot heat to the scooter rental spot. I went without Ms. Straight Gurl for some reason. Probably because I was trying to prove something to her nay myself really, lol…

Anyway, I walked in the scorching heat and arrived at the scooter rental place drenched in sweat and hoping that the people spoke English as my Balinese is non-existent. They did, so that was a step in the right direction.

I picked out a scooter in my favorite color, PINK! With a matching helmet… 🙂

I got a quick lesson about where to put the gas, then I begged them to do it for me, lol…. They did. So, the lady came back with a full tank and gave me more instructions on acceleration and braking….  Then she handed the scooter over to me…. 👀

“This can’t be so hard”… I thought…. I took off slowly… it went ok… then comes an intersection… a busy one where I would need to accelerate faster than I’d been going…..

I saw my chance to get out there so I took off! 

Then I realized the chick told me NOTHING about steering and turning… I immediately crossed the street and crash into a VERY long row of scooters, knocking most of them down…

Then I slowly left the scene of the crime as several Balinese men yelled at me for knocking their bikes down… 

“Sorry!!!!” as I slowly scooted away…. 

They could have easily run after me with how slowly I was moving but maybe they felt bad…

Anyway, this is what I woke up today laughing about… the time when  I rented a scooter and immediately crashed into a row of neatly parked scooters then slowly left the scene of the crime, lmao… whatever…

Today, I happen to be in Progreso, Mexico… I have 2 more days here and I’m sad to leave but excited to go on to Hawaii!! It’ll be my second time in Hawaii… I have all of my gear ready…

Swim fins = check

Snorkel = check

Snorkel mask = check

Inflatable boogie boards = CHECK and CHECK!!

I cannot wait!!! 

The only thing standing in between me and my Hawaiian snorkel fantasy is the fact that I just got a new tattoo here in Mexico… Ah, I love it… it’s total fiyah… 🔥

We’ll see how I can participate in water sports without getting it wet….

I’m off to have a second breakfast because I am greedy and hungry…
